These pups are getting a hunting lesson on this #WetnoseWednesday!
From the Book of Cabinet Chromos (1881), a book-shaped box full of loose chromolithographed cards that was given as a gift to every subscriber of The People’s Illustrated Fireside Magazine.
We found this wetnose while cataloging and couldn’t resist sharing. How sweet is the dress on the so-called Little Conqueror? So much to love about this mezzotint :)
Obviously, we love the Marriott C. Morris Collection at the Library Company. One reason we keep returning to these images is for the nostalgic view of familiar Philadelphia-area attractions.
Here we see children playing with a dog on the Jersey Shore. Though our modern-day beach attire may differ from what we see in this image, Philadelphians still flock to the Jersey Shore to escape the summer heat of the city.
This circa 1885 chromolithographed trade card for Ehrich’s cloaks & dolmans certainly makes us wonder if Ehrich outfitted dogs, too.
