It’s that time of year again! The 2018 #ColorOurCollections challenge kicks off today!!
#ColorOurCollections is an annual social media challenge for special collections libraries with international participation. Launched by the New York Academy of Medicine in 2016, this week-long challenge encourages institutions to create coloring books using collection materials and share colored pages on social media.
Our coloring book as well as the original material is also on display as part of #GiltyPleasures : Sharing Special Collections through Social Media. You can find a high res version of the book here:

The opening reception for #GiltyPleasures : Sharing Special Collections through Social Media is TONIGHT! If you live in the Philly area we’d love to see you. Stop on by and see your favorite posts in person. This exhibit couldn’t have happened without you, our followers. <3

Social media encourages participation from viewers where likes and comments illuminate what materials and topics resonate most with our followers. For the #GiltyPleasures exhibition visitors can like their favorite post in person using sticker hearts on an image mosaic. In this video one of the exhibit curators chooses the first like on the wallpaper. We are most excited to see the mosaic transform over time with accumulated hearts. Which image will you choose?
